Relativism, Pluralism, Subjectivity
Epistemic and Ontological
'Relativism' is a term often used in philosophy for a great number of very different views. The aim of the course is to survey, analyze and discuss two varieties of relativism and pluralism: ontological and epistemic. We will pay special attention to the structure of arguments for and against relativism and pluralism, as well as to the motivations and perceived consequences of their endorsement or rejection. We will also be led to discuss some of the concepts common to epistemology and metaphysics: reason, justification, objectivity, understanding, reality and truth.
