Prof. Dr. Daniel Cohnitz

Head of Chair

Daniel is professor of theoretical philosophy since February 2006, and manages the development of the section. He received his Dr. phil. from the University of Düsseldorf, where he also worked as an assistant professor from 2000-2006.

Jekaterina Denissova

MA Student, Assistant

Jekaterina is MA student in Theoretical Philosophy. She graduated "cum laude" with a BA from Theoretical Philosophy. Her thesis was titled  "A challenge for David Chalmers’ Ambitious Neo-Descriptivism". Her MA project is within philosophy of language and metaphilosophy, and studies what subject matter theories of reference have. Jekaterina is also tutor for logic and works as an assistant at the chair.

Jaan Elken

MA Student

Jaan is MA student in Theoretical Philosophy. He graduated with a BA from Theoretical Philosophy with a thesis on the Turing test. His MA project is in philosophy of language and focusses on the contribution of theories of meaning in explaining genuine and merely apparent disagreements.

Jean-Louis Hudry, PhD

PostDoc Researcher

Jean-Louis Hudry obtained his PhD in philosophy at the University of Edinburgh (UK) in 2006, after a MA in history and philosophy of science at Indiana University (Bloomington, USA) and a Maîtrise in philosophy at the University of Paris-Sorbonne (France). His main research interests are in ancient philosophy, philosophy of science and philosophy of logic.

Mikko Leinonen, PhD

PostDoc Reseacher

Mikko Leinonen has received his Ph.D. from the University of Tampere. He is experienced as a qualified teacher of philosophy, psychology and Latin. His main research interests are in the currents of 20th century academic philosophy, deontic logic, logical empiricism, metaphilosophy and Rudolf Carnap.

Triin is project manager at the Department of Philosophy and taking care of many of the projects at the Theoretical Philosophy section. She graduated from the department of semiotics of the University of Tartu (2006).
